marktucci98.jpgThis week Congress is considering giving the FDA control over the regulation of tobacco. They also are considering banning Flavored and Clove cigarettes under a misguided notion that flavored cigarettes are enticing kids to smoke.

We find that assertion ridiculous based on the customer profile we see in our company and franchise store locations.

Adults are coming in and buying flavored cigarettes for a change to the same old inferior cigarettes that Big Tobacco has been forcing on tobacco consumers for years. Big Tobacco brought FDA control over tobacco on themselves with their immoral attempts at marketing to kids in the first place.

Our sales of flavored tobacco are doing very well and should the FDA take control, the only way to enjoy a flavored cigarette is to make it yourself with our bulk tobacco. We’re ramping up our production of flavored tobacco just in case Big Tobacco can’t buy enough Congressmen to stop the FDA bill.

  1. Well I would like to say I smoke the flavor cigerettes and say its a bunch of shit when u cant do what you want. we are grown adults lets be real we dont tell fat people to stop eating so they dont need to tell us to stop smoking. No wonder i didnt vote for this president he is just like the rest of them useless.

  2. I had been a smoker of the camel signature infused for a couple of years now and I am honestly shocked at the ignorance of politicians these days. Most people I know started smoking with Marborlo Lights so isn’t it logical to take those off the market? I mean honestly if adult smokers can’t choose to smoke something different (i.e. cloves or flavored tobacco) how many basic pleasures can the government take away from us?
I do not have children but I think that not having your children smoke is based solely on the parent. If you don’t keep an eye on them they were do all sorts of bad things. Children find new and different ways to get high and wasted every day. Since when is flavored tobacco the most important thing we have to worry about?!

  3. “. . . a cigarette or any of its component parts (including the tobacco, filter, or paper) shall not contain, as a constituent (including a smoke constituent) or additive, an artificial or natural flavor (other than tobacco or menthol) or an herb or spice, including strawberry, grape, orange, clove, cinnamon, pineapple, vanilla, coconut, licorice, cocoa, chocolate, cherry, or coffee, that is a characterizing flavor of the tobacco product or tobacco smoke.”
Hmmm….licorice is on the list but not excluded like menthol……….?
Let’s see what Philip Morris puts in their cigaretts other than tobacco and menthol.
Wow! Look!!! They’re STILL breaking the new FDA law.

Licorice extract (CAS # 68916-91-6) is currently used worldwide at levels below 14,000 ppm in selected cigarette brands manufactured and/or distributed by Philip Morris International. Licorice is applied to cigarette tobacco both as a flavor and casing material. It enhances and harmonizes the flavor characteristics of smoke, improves moisture holding characteristics of tobacco, thus increasing stability and shelf life, and acts as a surface active agent during the spraying process of casing ingredients, thus improving the rate of absorption of flavors uniformly and evenly into tobacco. Applied as such, licorice may be subject to pyrolysis-type reactions during the smoking process. This document summarises our internal studies and current published toxicology information on licorice extract abstracted from online toxicity databases. [14]

Maybe the “hush, hush” of the FDA is because of the buy off from Philip Morris. Classic federal communist corruption.

  4. this has got to be a joke. NO KID WOULD SMOKE JUST BECAUSE THEY SEE A FLAVORED CIGARETTE. they should know the difference between candy, and drugs. I started smoking weed and I didn’t use flavors until later on. Granted, this law doesn’t effect me as much as you guys, but it shouldnt even be a illegal to sell “candy-flavored” tobacco…

  5. I used to smoke Benson & Hedges (for 22 years). I would also have a pack of cloves hanging around for a change. I ended up quitting when the FSC’s were introduced. They gave me head aches and sharp pains in my lungs. I have been using electronic cigarettes for about a year now and feel 100% better! I do still like an occasional clove, but couldn’t find them anymore! The BAN!!! Yesterday I noticed one of the local stores still had about 50 packs on the shelf. I bought 6 packs and plan on buying the rest out. I smoke about 5 a month, so if I buy the store out I should be good for life! As long as I seal and freeze them.
